What to do when a WhatsApp invite link is expired

Reset links, reports, and why submitting the same chat twice makes the directory worse.

WhatsApp invite links expire when an admin resets them, when a group is deleted, or when WhatsApp flags the URL. A directory cannot reach into the app and revive a dead token. It can only stop sending people there.

On the listing page

Use the report form and write “invite expired”. That is enough. If you are the owner, send the new official URL through the contact page with a link to the public listing so an editor can replace it without creating a duplicate.

If you are the admin

Resetting a link is the correct response to a raid or a leaked invite. After you reset, treat the old posts on Facebook or a directory as outdated. Update them in the same week. Leaving both URLs in circulation splits your members and trains Google to index a 404-like experience.

Duplicates

Do not submit the same chat five times under new titles. OpenCircle rejects an invite URL that is already stored. If you need a new URL because the old one died, that is an edit, not a second listing.

A healthy directory is slightly smaller than a spam directory. Removing dead links is part of the work, the same way a newspaper removes a closed shop from a city guide.
